Opening Weekend

May 20, 2008
The weather of our opening weekend was terrible! We had rain, rain, and snow! The wind was out of the north so the morning temperatures were + 2 all the way to + 3! The only good thing was that the water level has stabilized and we do not have any docks under water. Even with the bad weather and wind the fishing was fair to good. As expected the pike fishing was good. The walleye fishing was good for those groups that fished with WORMS! We had reports of four or five fish that were released because they were over the slot limit of 23 ¾ inches. It would seem that our walleye will fishery will be in find shape for this year. From what I can tell the weed growth has started and our weed line fishing will stay the same as previous years. I will post another journal to further update you on our fishery. We looking forward to the coming year.

We are open!

May 16 2008
Well the water is “a bit” high. We have five boats in the water four and one spare. The water is only 5 ½ inches above normal. Right now we have a bit of water in the boathouse and only one dock is flush with the water level. I have put the NOW WAKE jugs out and I hope that the boaters under stand just what the jugs are for. As many of you know I don’t think much of the “BOATING SAFETY CARD” The problem is that one does not have to have EVAR been in a boat. How nuts is that. WHAT I MEAN IS THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT GIVE YOU A MOTORCYCLE LICENCE WITH OUT A RIDERS TEST! I have seen people with a save boating card that have NEVER been in a boat. Come-on you can take this test on line just give them you credit card number and you have a SAFE BOATING card. Well I don’t have a safe boating card but whom of you out there has been at the wheel of a DISTROYER! And I did that when I was twenty years old. That’s enough of my rant. My next blog will be next week.

Two Weeks To Go

May 3, 2008
All the cabins have been cleaned. The weather this week is expected to be above freezing so we put the water on all the cabins. The front dock has been straightened. We still must fix dock #10 at the top pf the crib. All the motors are ready except one that had a throttle problem. That motor is at the dealer to be repaired. The past two days we have had solid rain and everything is water logged. We have cut the front grass twice but the back lawn is just way to wet. I checked the fiberglass on the boats and there is some minor repaired required. As best I can tell the “powers” are holding the water back in the lake. “They” told us that on May 21 the lake was at + 9.5 in inches and the river was at + 20.9. Then “they” tell us that on May 28 the Lake is at + 5.9 and the river is at +5.12 inches. That means that “they” are holding the lake water back to prevent too much flow in the French river to protect the fish spawn.
