Camp update

July 24, 2008
During the past few weeks it seemed that everything that could go wrong did go wrong! Our garden tractor broke down. The backhoe tractor got some bed fuel. The furnace for the chalet would not start. The water pump quit working so we could not wash our boats. So you can just imagine that I have been VERY busy. Now I want to talk about the slot limit for our walleyes. Many customers have been asking does this limit work? What they mean is, can any one prove that returning the slot fish help the fishery and how long will this mandate toke to show an improvement really helps. I just read that Switzerland has mandated that catch and release will be illegal. That means that you must KILL each fish that you catch. Does that seem harsh; will that same thing was proposed for our lake. That was discussed at a meeting with the M,N.R. We had a few of the old timers that were fishing the way that they have been for thirty years. That means that they were fishing the same spots (mid day) they ALWAYS caught fish. As they were docking their boat I caught a 30 inch walleye within fifty feet of their dock. The comment was we never caught fish there.

Fiahing Update

July, 5, 2008
Again but we have been VERY busy. Rain, rain go away, during the past two weeks we had had three days with out RAIN! The fish don’t seem to mind and our guests have been doing vary well. We have seen 6 or 7 walleyes over 4 pounds and one weighted 6 lbs 15 oz. We have reports of 10 to 12 lbs Pike being caught and released. Our fishermen have caught and released MANY walleyes in the slot limit. Yesterday we had a 3 lb 15 oz largemouth bass caught and released at our dock. The walleyes are on the edge of the weeds, and those people who fish with worms are doing very well. During the Canada day week end we had been having a problem with a group of water skiers who have NO REGARD for our customers who were fishing. They would start towing the skier from the dock and cut right in front of the people fishing. I sew this and I hope I made my point when I called the person driving the boas and idiot! I am not sure that he even understood that what he did was wrong dangerous and also very illegal. Should this stupid practice, continue I will report this jerk to the O.P.P. That’s all I have for now and I will try to keep you posted soon.
